I just destroyed a book.
I went to my bookcase, milled through some paperbacks, and finally settled on a decaying large-print copy of Rudyard Kipling's Captains Courageous.
I folded it backward once, twice, snapped it around the other way, and then tore it in half. I pulled it apart twice more and spent awhile "cleaning" the edges by snipping them apart with scissors. I sliced the first fifty pages across the bottom, so that they splay outward and retreat into what's left of the gluey spine.
I just destroyed a book.
*Whimper.*
Okay, so it's for class! Perfect binding, good example, blah, blah, blah. I didn't hurt it too much. It was an old, tired book beyond its prime and keeping it around was cruel. It was a mercy to finally put it to sleep and end its suffering.
I just destroyed a book.
I can't decide if I'm in mourning or excited or what the hell. This blows my mind.
We should NEVER EVER EVER HURT BOOKS. They are sacred. Even the sucky ones.
...I'm so totally going to the special hell. For seriously serious. Really.
I'm making these for myself and really enjoying the effect/experience. They do NOT contain alcohol, though a tenner says they would be gorgeous with Tia Maria involved.
1 Cup HOT black coffee
2 Heaped spoonfuls (approx. 2 Tablespoons) hot cocoa mix
Stir until achieves standard cocoa-ish appearance. If your coffee isn't hot enough, you will have those gross lumps in your drink. Ice cools this down nicely afterward, so it's better the drink be too hot rather than too cold.
I have not actually consumed a Kimbley Special iced apurpose, so I'm not sure how that would taste.
The reference to Kimbley is entirely (my!)fanon-based and is there mostly to make me happy.
