Points (On Authority)
Nov. 11th, 2007 10:51 amKiller!Elphaba? Okay. Make me believe it.
(A few choppy paragraphs about her life's calling later)
Still not buying it.
Galinda's her target? Nice. Show me some inner turmoil?
Pink-and-sparkly cuts herself, WOE.
No, no, no, you fool, no.
In the first place, she's not idealized, she's not mapped on, we have no clue why Elphaba cares, as she all of a sudden begins to do within two sentences.
You know, they were roommates. At university. That HAPPENED. In canon and everything. You could use it.
I am, to say the least, disappointed.
It's just as well no one else writes Kitana/Mileena.

I think them becoming friends, it was a forced situation with being roommates, but it could've started as both 'reluctant admiratin/jealousy' and developes because they're so 'opposite from each other.

She might take pills or something, but that would require actual effort on the author's part.
Yeah. Close proximity does funny things to people. I just was baffled that it totally wasn't even MENTIONED in the fic, when the whole point of said fic is tragic Elphaba/Galinda ftw.
It's weird to write a "romance" between two characters and have the only motivator be sudden, poorly explained wrist-cutting, of all things. O_o;;

Date: 2007-11-14 03:11 am (UTC)but most ( key word 'most') authors don't want to actually think about effort, they just want to go for dramatics and emotions.
In their minds, Elphalba seeing Galinda with bloody arms would force her to admit her love for her so she doesn't have to kill/cut herself.
..As opposed to the 'real' Elphalba who would be freaked out, but instead of confessing her love, she'd chastise her while trying to stop the bleeding.
