Y'know...

They could just look for "the straight gene".

Speaking purely as a statistician: they'd have a ginormous sample size! And getting the consent forms signed would be SO easy! And *if* there were any oopsies with confidentiality, it's not like there'd be much in the way of social damage to the respondents.

I know a bunch of guys who would be deeply comforted by the knowledge that they were definitively, genetically, unalterably straight.

(To the best of my knowledge, they haven't yet studied the genetic code of lesbians, or, y'know, any women whatsoever, looking for a preference indicator, and thus, they can't make projections.)

I'm perfectly serious. This consideration is, on my part, entirely devoid of anything even close to sarcasm.

Common sense and academia really don't play all that well together.

*Heee!*

I have this hypothesis that it's because of the TASTY DELICIOUS FUNDING.

...I, I mean, the MONEY PROGRESS OF SCIENCE. And progress. XD

It was very cool to read the study--it may be the initial one? 'Cause it's from 1993 and that's right about when I recall this story first being a fuss.

I has, if you wants copy? *Shrug.*

I think it would be neat to see where exactly in all our little helix chainings our pairbond sparkly feelings come from ^_^ It would make for a fun world.

Off-topic: I made a Google Earth thing. Would you like to see?

Kah Min Cents? What's this phrase? It sounds Swedish.

A straight gene... hah.... yeah, see, if they tried to find that, their arguments would fall flat and then they'd lose the argument that people can be born gay. Or at least, they'd run a much higher risk of proving themselves wrong. And we can't have those whacko Christian extremists with their guns be proven right, now, can we? Damn bigots. I can't tolerate them because they're so intolerant.

LOL technically it's pinko! With suspected French origins, syntactically XD

It's just...they're trying to prove evidence of an exception without any idea what the rule looks like. It makes no sense.

(I find either kind of...moot? We're judged by our beliefs and behavior, never by our chromosomes.)

I do think it would be cool to see if they could find where it is desire comes from. Since most people are straight, that would probably be easiest to find first.

Everyone's a bigot. Just in different positions. ^_~
