Ah, I see you also helped the Freshman with their Comp? XD
I gave up about 90 days in.
"The reason is because that" is my personal all-time freakout combination. I have a sort of vendetta against "that" to begin with. (I believe you've seen the fallout therefrom. ^_~) But it doesn't deserve such a...mauling.
(Oh noes I began a sentence with a conjunction. Why people can't tolerate that, yet spout, "the reason is because that", continues to elude me.)
Of course, "the reason is because OF that" would make it somewhat more okay. Awkward, but no longer wrong.
I know it's kind of stupid, but I'm really NOT OKAY with this particular double-clause.
Imperial!Palin rides again. She knows which side has the awesome uniforms. <3
Nah, didn't help freshman, but my English teacher my sophomore year of high school went through this enormous list of "conventions", which were basically her pet peeves. Like, a thing can't be more perfect, pregnant, or straight (in the geometrical sense, ^_~). It either is or it isn't. "Irregardless" isn't a word, and when people use it, they mean plain "regardless". Stuff like that.
"The reason why is because" was her number one pet peeve, along with its cousins "the reason why" and "the reason is because". I haven't heard this "the reason is because that" before. How hideous. So now the ultimate badness is "the reason why is because that". >_
I think I typed "freshman" that way 'cause that's the pun I was thinking of. I do that with allowed (aloud) a lot, too, and of course, spellcheck never catches it.
in the geometrical sense-- I wasn't gonna say it! ^_~;
OMG "irregardless"! I hate that. And its evil cousin "disregardless". Eeew. Eww. :P
Yeah, "the reason is because that" ranks right up there with my first day of seventh grade: one of the girls in the third row raised her hand and asked, "What's a noun?"
"The reason why is because that." It's like barbed wire dragging a cinderblock. Scraaaape-CLUNK. *Shudder.*
...It's possible I modified the keywords for this avatar, and it's entirely possible that's your influence. <3
So we had basically the same thought in the same context. ^_^
Trek uniforms have, oh, how do I explain our ugly mustard Security jumpsuits? XD
They make heavy use of ranking color. Full dress shirt in the first series, and then giant swatches just below the shoulders or at the shoulders in later series, except That One With Scott Bakula In It, Which I Refuse To Watch (Preposition Police Advisory Level: Orange). XD
I could explain them, if you'd like? I'm not sure how much blather you'd really care for. ^_~
But, yeah, the cut is very Spacefarer Female With Clothes On. ^_^
