Ill (Literate)
Feb. 14th, 2007 10:49 amI'm pretending I haven't got a chest cold.
Anyway, BOOKS. I found them! I thought I'd dreamed them.
They fascinated me; they made tables out of buttons! And so forth. I liked them MUCH better than Lion Witch etc. etc., which I read the same year.
1988. Dear god. I will now shy away from that thought.
And this was "age appropriate" by the time I read it.
And read it and read it and read it. Until the cover fell off.
Then I forgot what it was called, and retained a dim memory of the floating "Stardust" sign and a Ferris Wheel collapsing. I thought this must be something I made up, that there was no such book, because In America chapter books are supposed to be Difficult Things To Read. I hadn't noticed books had chapters, in any meaningful sense, until I was told they were Difficult Things To Read.
I mostly ignored the numbers and letters in the way of my story. XD
I did like it outside, once. The real reason smart kids go inside is that yes, Virginia, it does in fact hurt to be punched in the face. *Snort.*
I forgot it was Valentine's Day. A happy one to anyone who made it to the bottom of all this crap.
