They were giving away magazines at the library.
And there's this cool one on the table. Tealy, underwater scene with "BREAKAWAY" in big, leaping letters on it. Superhero dudes, plus tentacles. For FREE.

In very small print beside one of the heroes' raised fists it says...!

And lo and behold.
...It's a FOCUS ON THE FAMILY MAGAZINE.
Ithink KNOW I'm gonna burn it. After I cut off the Special cover and secret it away underneath my bed.
I feel so filthy. It touched me. I picked it up WITH MY HANDS. PLURAL. AND TOOK IT INTO MY HOUSE.

ETA: This is one teeny-tiny reason I am upset. Just one. Tip of the iceberg, and not even the real reason I dislike them so intensely.
Nah, that one has more to do with teen pregnancy FOR JESUS!!!1 and the life I stood by and watched it ruin. It's a narrative full of guilt and angst.
