This is so very, very much my friend.
It can't fix EVERYTHING. Considering the drive was hit by LIGHTNING, I'm willing to make some allowances/concessions.
Mmm. "Never" is somewhat closer to an actual arrival date. Though much less so than could be inferred or hoped for, based on that sentence. Also, I have music and at least one file I think
weskerismybitch will be happy to have in her possession again.
I also have film noir. ^_~

Date: 2008-01-25 10:34 pm (UTC)I never had these problems until I moved to this county, but the constant brown-outs here take their toll on the electronics after awhile, even with surge protectors and some other mystical power thing you would probably know the precise purposes and composition of, which is to me a grey box into which things are plugged and further protected.
It is not a shunt. I know that much. It seems to be some sort of battery backup thing. It makes piercing loud noises whenever the power goes out. XD
But yeah. Last two = power company ate them. And the router. And our cable modem, which we'll be replacing at our earliest convenience, as the functionality, while there, is glitchy/touchy and I'd rather not wait for pure desperation to kick in.
The awesome thing about me and Stepdad both taking online classes is that constant Internet connectivity is now a priority. ^_~
Um, wait; I don't think I answered your actual question. But you don't need to worry about me asking you for billions of music files anymore. XD

Date: 2008-01-25 11:08 pm (UTC)The power thing is just a backup power thing. It's a supply intended to kick in when normal power goes out and go off when normal power goes back on. Pretty sure it's supposed to be pretty temporary, so I don't think they last more than a few hours, but I've never owned one.
And I was kind of kidding about asking which one because you've lost so many I can't keep track. :p But if it has billions of music files that's AWESOME, as I'm fairly certain you probably lost things I'd like to have. :p And she's on a roll, folks!
I AM leaving working at 7, I swear it. Hope you're around tonight.
