A One Dead Bunny training exercise.
Behold!
It's a perfectly serviceable iron ice-box, and in it there's ghrel and s'lisk and chicken, and eggs, though those don't keep long. There are a few advantages to this living arrangement, like the fresh bitter green ends of turnips, the only leaves that ever pass her lips. They're a secret fondness; the others would spurn her and laugh. The mutants--the Nomads!--would jeer and call her "Princess Rabbit", and the Edenians would chuckle politely behind their opera gloves because turnip greens are commoner food.
She does not fancy bread at all, though she can be baited into all manner of grueling errands with cake--oh, her sister makes it with cinnamon and butter and almonds, and it just glides down one's tongue--and Mileena will do literally anything for a cookie just out of the oven. She once hopped on one foot with her eyes crossed while yodeling for precisely this prize. It is not a memory Kitana has ever let her live down.
But there were rewards on the other side of it, and she is nothing at all if not persistent; she will last, outlast, long after the others drop dead from the pain, from the exhaustion and terrified joy that comes with the Emperor's rare and treacherous favor, even after that, she, Mileena, will remain.
It's as much as can be expected, today, with the cream soured past eating and the eggs thieved away by her beau along with half the s'lisk, a love note of non-apology in their place. Her greens are untouched.
So much for casserole.
