If I get my way, they might actually get totally naked in this one and everything, eventually.
"It, it, it..." That seemed to be the only word Kitana could say, gasping, shaking so hard she nearly knocked her sister over. "Horrible!" she screamed.
"Shhh," soothed Mileena. Kitana's panic was like a fist knotting closed behind her eyes, squeezing. "Shh, there, you're safe," she lied awkwardly. Her hand, poised to offer comfort, fell flat to her side at the look on Kitana's face.
"Shut up." It was a low growl. "Just shut up."
She'd half-expected the punch and dodged easily.
"This helps," she said, and offered wine.
"I hate it."
"You won't when the dreams come." She fished another glass from the cabinet and poured for herself. "This and men." She nodded, drank. "And the only thing that makes men go away is more men. At least, in your case."
She emptied and refilled her cup and drained it again without pause.
Kitana took one careful sip and swallowed, making a face. She looked down at her hands.
"I didn't love him," she said.
Mileena choked, spluttering. "Then why--what--get off my couch!" she exploded.
"I'm an awful person," Kitana blubbered, her drink abandoned. "I don't deserve to live!"
"One more word," warned Mileena, "one more syllable, and I'll solve that for you."
"'Leena!" she wailed, and buried her head in her sister's shoulder. "Oh, 'Leena."
Mileena cleared her throat. She'd been dreaming that some night her twin would barge into her room unnanounced and half-naked to sit down for cocktails, but this wasn't quite how she'd expected it to go.
"Darling," Mileena said, at a loss for better. "It will be alright."
"Everyone dies! My mother, those poor families, and--and now him. Everyone!"
"I'm here," she said, and if only her sister wouldn't clutch at her like that, if only she were less soft and more dressed. It just wasn't fair. "Shh."
