Oh my god Deep Space Nine.
They're talking when they should be shooting, and shooting when they should be talking, and the Romulans are never given anything to do, they just stand there and loom while everybody else talks. And talks. And talks.
Have I mentioned they talk? Because they talk. Incessantly.
In all fairness the battles are quite diverting, WHEN THEY HAPPEN, which is on the order of about never and accompanied by--could it be? Do you suppose it might WHY YES, THAT'S IT, MORE TALKING.
Because diplomacy is clearly serving them so well against the Jem'Hadar.

Also, Kira Nerys has the most incredibly screechy voice ever, and it gets worse whenever she attempts to Yell Dramatically. Sometimes her lips move and no sound comes out, and that was freakin' me a little, until I realized it's because she's hitting pitches only bats can hear.
And people rag on Voyager, people actually have the brass to rag on Voyager.
Holyshit.
SubcommanderSeska T'Rul was awesome. For the, like, eight seconds she got to do anything other than scream and pound the console. Guys in lizard masks? Shit, she can handle it. Disrupt them IN THE FACE. That's how it's done.
Did I mention that the whole part where the big bad evil I've seen--going on nothing but fanfic and fan attitudes to go on for years because I refused to watch the show--this horrific devastating force that pushes Cardassians and Romulans and all stripes of undesirables to work with the almighty Feds...Is a bunch of dudes in gray lizard masks.
Dude. The Gorn was excusable. FORTY YEARS AGO.
Even at the time this show was made, they'd had THIRTY PLUS YEARS to figure out that lizard men are mostly made of full-suit rubber and generally don't photograph well.
And then they went and did it anyway.
I laughed the first time I saw one.
I'm hoping that wasn't the intention.
Shit, no wonder teens didn't like Star Trek before Spylar showed up.
It's possible I'm also sort of angry because the Cardassians are what the Romulans could have been if they weren't getting totally character assassinated every time they appear. TNG at least threw them a bone here or there.
Anyway, yeah. See title bar.
I'm gonna try watching the Sisko straitjacket episodes, for the lulz. Tenchi used to do this awesome over the top blubber of "I CREATED IT, AND IT'S REEEEEEAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLA" based on one single viewing of some commercials for it.
In short, I anticipate amusement. ^_^
To be fair: Elim Garak is the most imminently watchable mincing poofter they've ever had on a Star Trek show.
And OF COURSE people ship Garak/Bashir. It's not my thing, but it's canon. Oh my god is it canon.
They chat about theatre over lunch and gush re: exchanging chocolates and how much they'll miss each other. Incessantly, of course, because that's how talking is done aboard the DS9.
I mean. I don't even have to try.
It's a shame Garak's not on more; the show achieves a surprisingly high level of decent when he's around.
I wonder what Gul Dukat is like, but not enough to actually keep watching. -_-;
